This section allows you to:
- Change the default language of the application.
- Set the application as the default PDF viewer.
- Install the application as the default system printer.
- Set the application as the PDF previewer in Internet Explorer.
- Disable automatic updates.
- Use Foxit PDF Editor to open embedded PDFs in Microsoft Office files.
- Set the application to use GDI+ output when printing.
- Specify the Edition Foxit PDF Editor will install in.
- Specify the Server Address for On-Premises Admin Console.
- Specify the Server Address for On-Premises Update Server.
1. Application Language
Use OS Language: Foxit PDF Editor will be installed in the user's OS language.
i.e. Person A and Person B work for Acme Corporation. However, Person A has Windows in English and Person B in French. If this option is selected Person A will see Foxit PDF Editor in English and Person B in French.
Choose custom language: This will install Foxit PDF Editor in the language selected.
Regardless of which option you choose, the user will always have the ability to switch the language on their own under the software's preferences.
3. Install the application as the default system printer.
This function will set the Foxit PDF Creator printer as the default printer in Windows. Enable this option if you want users to print to PDF as the default print option.
4. Set the application as the PDF previewer in Internet Explorer.
Enabling this function will use the Foxit PDF Editor Internet Explorer Plugin to view PDF files within Internet Explorer.
Example with this turned ON: Clicking on a PDF in IE will open the PDF INSIDE IE using the Foxit PDF Editor IE Plugin.
6. Use Foxit PDF Editor to open embedded PDFs in Microsoft Office files.
This function will use Foxit PDF Editor to open any PDF files embedded in a Microsoft Office Word, Excel or PowerPoint document.
i.e. If a PDF is embedded as an object in any of the mentioned Office applications, we can use this setting to force those PDFs to open with Foxit PDF Editor.
Note: In order for this setting to take effect, you will need to uninstall Adobe Reader and/or Adobe Acrobat.
7. Set the application to use GDI+ output when printing.
Turning this ON will allow you to use GDI+ output when printing to paper using printers with PostScript drivers.
Note: This setting does not work for PCL printers.
8. Specify the Edition Foxit PDF Editor will install in.
This setting will allow you to choose the Edition Foxit PDF Editor will install in.
Note: This is a legacy setting and using it is NOT RECOMMENDED since the Edition is now controlled by the license key.
9. Specify the Server Address for On-Premises Admin Console.
This is a legacy tool used to configure the server address for the On-Premises Admin Console.
10. Specify the Server Address for On-Premises Update Server.
This is a legacy tool used to configure the server address for the On-Premises Update Server.
