Descriptions:
Prior to Foxit PDF Editor V11, there is an option Insert printed PDFs into previously generated documents, except those created by Foxit PhantomPDF under the Create PDF tab in Preferences dialog box. With this option checked,Foxit PhantomPDF would append newly generated PDF files to a previously generated one which are created by Print command in other application using Foxit PhantomPDF Printer.
But now we cannot find this option anymore in Foxit PDF Editor.
Reason and solution:
Since V11.0 of Foxit PDF Editor, we have removed the above mentioned option from Create PDF tab in Preferences dialog box replaced by the option Insert before existing file or Insert after existing file in Foxit PDF Editor Printer Printing Preferences dialog box.
When you have the option “Insert before existing file” selected, Foxit PDF Editor Printer will insert the generated PDF at the beginning of a selected existing file. If the existing file that you selected is a PDF portfolio, the generated PDF will be added as a component file in the portfolio.
When you have the option “Insert after existing file” selected, Foxit PDF Editor Printer will insert the generated PDF at the end of a selected existing file, If the existing file that you selected is a PDF portfolio, the generated PDF will be added as a component file in the portfolio.
So in Version 11.0 or greater version, we suggest you choose to convert the first non-PDF file into PDF file firstly and close it from Foxit PDF Editor, then choose to turn on the above mentioned “Insert before existing file” or “Insert after existing file” feature to convert the other on-PDF files and inserted them into the first generated PDF file.
In Foxit PDF Editor V11.1 or greater version, if you insist on using the feature "Insert printed PDFs into previously generated documents, except those created by Foxit PhantomPDF" like Foxit PhantomPDF does, the only way is turning on the "Insert printed PDFs into previously generated documents, except those created by Foxit PhantomPDF" function via GPO configuration in Foxit PDF Editor GPO Template. Please do the following:
1: Access this article to download the appreciate Foxit PDF Editor GPO template.
2: Open Group Policy Editor, go to Computer Configuration or Users Configuration > Administrative Templates, right click on Administrative Templates and choose Add/Move templates… option in the pop-up context menu to Add/Remove Templates window, click on “Add…” button in the “Add/Remove Templates” window to navigate to selected the downloaded Foxit PDF Editor GPO template.
3:Open Group Policy Editor, go to Computer Configuration or Users Configuration > Administrative Templates > Classic Administrative Templates. Choose Foxit PDF Editor, select Preferences, double click on Insert Printed PDF into Previously Generated PDF,Selected Enabled option and click on OK or Apply to apply the change to Foxit PDF Editor.
4: After you having enabled the Inserted Printed into Previously Generated PDF potion in GPO template, though the option "Insert printed PDFs into previously generated documents, except those created by Foxit PhantomPDF" will still not reappear under the “Create PDF” tab in Preferences dialog box, however the option corresponds to the function itself is already enabled in the Foxit PDF Editor application. So, you will then find that Foxit PDF Editor will append newly generated PDF files to a previously generated one when you print non-PDF files with Foxit PDF Editor Printer.
Note:the mentioned GPO option cannot work in Foxit PDF Editor V11.0,it works in Foxit PDF Editor V11.1 and greater versions.
