Foxit Reader provides you UI options in the preferences dialog box to control the update related settings,as shown in the screenshot below:
(Tip:you could bring up the preferences dialog box by click on “File>Preferences” in Foxit Reader,or pressing “Ctrl+K” keys together. )
Below are the descriptions of the three options for controlling Foxit Reader update:
Automatically install updates:
For the plugin updates, Foxit Reader will download and install them automatically when a new plugin version is available. When the installation is finished, a message appears in the system tray to tell you that the plugin has been updated.
For the Foxit Reader application updates, they will be downloaded automatically and then you will be prompted whether to start the installation.
Automatically download updates, but let me choose when to install them(recommended):
Foxit Reader will automatically download and display a
message informing you of the plugin update or Foxit Reader application update and allow you to choose to update to the new version. This option is checked by default.
Do not download or install updates automatically:
Never download or install updates automatically.
So if you don’t want to get the update message which ask you to update plugin or Foxit Reader application, please set “Do not download or install updates automatically” in Foxit Reader preferences dialog box. However,we highly suggest you regularly install the most current release to safeguard your system against malicious attacks through PDF files.
In addition,if you have the option Automatically install updates or Authentically download updates, but let me choose when to install them selected in preferences, please click Don't Install button in the pop-up "Foxit Reader Updater" window when Foxit Reader prompts you to install the update.
Then Foxit Reader won’t prompt you to update to existing most current version anymore until a more newer version is released again.
