Error Message
Activation or deactivation failed. Error code:ERR301.
Cause and Solution
This error usually arises when a customer is trying to deactivate Foxit PDF Editor application that actually has already been deactivated on Foxit server side before. For example, the customer's activation code has been activated in Foxit PDF Editor on Computer A. For some reason, the customer contacted Foxit Support to asking for releasing license from computer A.
After being deactivated on Foxit Server side by Foxit Support already, then user choose to click on “Help”tab>” Deactivation” within Foxit PDF Editor again which would bring up the ERR301 Error prompt.
Because Foxit PDF Editor will validate the current device with activation records stored on the Foxit server side during the deactivation process, it would detect that there is no activation record for this device stored on server side and then indicate the error message once validation fails.
To deactivate license from current device thoroughly, just simply delete the local remained key file "fpmkey.txt” which is under the main installation folder of your Foxit PDF Editor, somewhere like:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor\ "
If you must insist on doing the deactivation yourself on the current device, do the following:
1: Firstly, please also delete the above mentioned remained key file “fpmkey.txt“.
2: Activate Foxit PDF Editor with your activation code again.
3: Finally, go click on “Help” tab in Foxit PDF Editor, hit “Deactivation” to free up license.
