Foxit PDF Editor comes with a feature that automatically recovers a crashed file(s) should the application close abnormally before you can save your changes. Foxit PDF Editor opens the recovery file automatically the next time you open it. The recovery file contains your changes up until the last time Foxit PDF Editor saved the document.
This feature is affected by the "Edit Text" tool as well as the "auto-save" feature.
Here's how auto-save affect the recovery of crashes files: Foxit PDF Editor's default auto-save is set to every 5-minutes, which means that if has been less than five minutes since the file was initially opened, the software will not recover the file
Here's how the Edit Text tool affects the recovery of crashes files: if the end-user was editing text when the software crashed, the file will not be recovered.
Further implications: The Edit Text tool overrides the auto-save feature. i.e. if the five-minute auto-save take effect while editing text, the software will not automatically save the file, it will wait for the end-user to be done editing text before automatically saving.
