When you open an image-based PDF document in Foxit PhantomPDF 8.0 and later versions, you will see a purple bulb message states that "Some pages may contain unrecognized text. You can run text recognition to make text searchable or editable". You can click Hide or Clear to conceal it for current session, but when you open it in next session, you will see the expanded message again.

For Foxit PhantomPDF older than version 8, it can detect whether a PDF file is scanned or image-based and make corresponding suggestions to initiate OCR when opening a scanned or image-based PDF as
below. You can click on the x button on the top right of the message bar to close it for current session.
The following sections describe how to hide the text recognition message permanently in different versions of Foxit PhantomPDF.
For version 9.2 and above, refer to here.

For versions from 8.3.1 to 9.0,refer to here.

For end users how to do
For end users who are using version 9.2 and greater versions, to turn off the Text Recognition message permanently, complete the following procedures:
1. In File menu, choose Preferences.
2. In General panel, uncheck the option Show the message which affects the next step, and click on OK.
You can also make the option Show the message which affects the next step in Preferences to be unchecked by checking Don’t show again option in the pop-up Text Recognition bulb message.
For administrators how to do
For administrators with version 9.2 and greater versions, to turn off the Text Recognition message, GPO template or the XML file can be used to hide the message permanently.
1.Follow here to download appropriate GPO template and refer to this article to Add template file to the Administrative Templates in a GPO.
2.Open Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc).
3. Choose Computer Configuration or User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Classic Administrative Templates.
4.Choose Foxit PhantomPDF, select Preferences, double click on Notification Messages.
5. Select Enabled and uncheck option Show the message which affects the next step ,choose OK to apply the change.

2.Open XML Editor, change the interface to the product you are currently having, specify an appropriate version number. For details see Configure and create an XML file.
3.In the Preferences tab, select Notification Messages item,uncheck the option Show the message which affects the next step after having checked option Enable configuration for Notification Messages. Click on Export to create an XML file. The default name would be “ProfStore.xml”,distribute the XML file into “C:\Program Files (x86)\Foxit Software\Foxit PhantomPDF\ProfStore”.
4. Restart PhantomPDF to apply the settings in XML file into PhantomPDF application.
For end users how to do
For end users who are using version 9.1, to turn off the Text Recognition message permanently, complete the following procedures:

For administrators how to do
For administrators with version 9.1, to turn off the Text Recognition message, GPO template or the XML file can be used to hide the message permanently.

Note: the following procedures could only prevent the notification messages to be expanded from the light bulb automatically, the light bulb tip icon from showing still cannot be removed permanently.
For end users how to do
For end users who are using versions from 8.3.1 to 9.0, to turn off the automatic expansion of bulb message that prompt users to use OCR, complete the following procedures:
1. In File menu, choose Preferences.
2. In General panel, check the option Don’t automatically expand notification messages, and click on OK.
For administrators how to do
For administrators with versions from 8.3.1 to 9.0, to turn off the automatic expansion of notification message that prompt users to use OCR, GPO template or the XML file can be used to prevent the message from expanding at the opening of the document.

3. Choose Computer Configuration or User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Classic Administrative Templates.

For end users who are using versions from 8.0 to 8.3.0, there is no option in preferences dialog box could disable the OCR notification message permanently, so end users need to configurate with GPO template or XML file for suppressing the message.
For administrators how to do
For administrators with versions from 8.0 to 8.3.0, GPO template or the XML file can be used to disable the OCR notification message.

Note: Foxit PhantomPDF began supporting XML file configurations since Version 7.3.0, so the above “Using XML editor” procedures just apply to version 7.3.0 and greater versions. XML file cannot be used to disable OCR message bar for versions older than v7.3.0.
