Besides GPO Configuration, you can customize program by XML Configuration. XML configuration takes precedence over GPO configuration. The application will use the XML configuration if both the XML and GPO configure a specific function at the same time.
The XML file can be configured with XML Editor and stored in program’s folder “C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Foxit Software\\Product Name\\ProfStore”.
Configure and create an XML file
For version 8 of Foxit PhantomPDF and Foxit Reader, complete the following steps to configure an XML file with XML Editor:
1. Open the XML Editor.
2. Change Interface. Check if the currently-used application name shows up in the title bar. If not you need to change the interface. If yes, no need to change, straightly jump to next step.
Example: You want to create an XML file for Reader, but the title of XML Editor appears as “XML Editor - Foxit PhantomPDF”, you should change the interface to Reader and vise versa.
Click on Interface at the bottom to choose a product name -- Reader or Phantom, click on Confirm and then Yes to switch the interface.
3. Check Version Number. The version number in Version box should match with your currently-used application version, and only the first 3 unique numbers are required. Fox Example, the application version number shows as “8.0.1.628”, however only the “8.0.1” is required to be input in the Version box.
Tip: To check the version number of an application, go to Help tab inside the app, click on “About Foxit ProductName”.
4. Do one of the following:
· For Phantom, configure whatever settings you want in XML Editor, and then click on Export to save it into program folder “C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Foxit Software\\Foxit PhantomdPDF\\ProfStore”,
Tip: Phantom installer file doesn’t include a pre-determined “profstore.xml” in the above ProfStore folder, you need to configure from scratch and save it into the destination folder.
· For Reader, click Import to browse and open an existing “ProfStore.xml“ file, make changes to the file, click Save to overwrite the existing xml file or Export it to other location for backup. Or directly configure settings from scratch and then click Export to save it as “ProfSstore.xml” file into the specific directory.
Tip: Reader installer file includes a pre-configured “ProfStore.xml” file in “C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Foxit Software\\Foxit Reader\\ProfStore”.
For version 7 of Foxit Reader with MSI Package, complete the steps below to configure an XML file。
Note: Foxit PhantomdPDF Version 7 doesn’t support XML configurations.
1. Open the XML Editor.
2. Do one of the following:
· Click Import to browse and open an existing “ProfStore.xml file”, make changes to the file, click Save to overwrite the existing xml file or Export it to other location for backup.
· Directly configure settings and then click Export to save it as “ProfStore.xml” file.
NOTES:
· Be sure that the XML file should match with your currently-used application version. If not, you would change the version number in the Version box before saving or exporting it. The first 3 unique version numbers are required, for example, 6.2.1 or 7.3.4.
· The “ProfSstore.xml” file should be placed in "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Foxit Software\\Foxit ProductName\\ProfStore", then it would take effect as configured.
