Disabling the automatic update
To disable the auto-update, complete the following steps:
1. Open Group Policy Editor, go to Computer Configuration or Users Configuration > Administrative Templates > Classic Administrative Templates.
2. Choose Foxit PDF Reader or Foxit PDF Editor, select Preferences, Update Settings double click on Updater.
3. Select Enable and choose Do not download or install updates automatically from the dropdown list, Ok to apply the change.
The following changes would be made to the application after the automatic update was disabled via GPO template.
1) The option Do not download or install updates automatically in Preferences > Updater would be checked and grayed out. The other two options were disabled as well.
2) The program would no longer access the updater server when the program was started.
Other two ways to deactivate the auto-update:
1. Use Preferences. Open Foxit PDF Reader or Foxit PDF Editor, choose File menu, choose Preferences, go to Updater, check the option Do not download or install updates automatically.
2. Use Registry. Open Registry Editor, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Foxit Software\Foxit ProductName + version number\Plugins\Updater, and set the value for UpdateMode to Zero.
Tip: User can manually check for updates by going to Help menu.
Removing the updater
To remove the update, do the following:
1. Open Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc).
2. Choose Computer Configuration or User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Classic Administrative Templates.
3. Choose Foxit PDF Reader or Foxit PDF Editor, select Plugins, double click on Remove Plugins.
4. Select Enabled, select Updater, and choose Ok to apply the change.
