We can sign a PDF document by using signature, in order to protect the PDF document. Sometimes, we may want to remove the signature, for example, so that we can correct some errors which are found after the PDF document is signed.
Can we remove a signature?
The answer is YES, but only when the signature is validated as valid.
Validate a signature
First, we must validate the signature to see if it's valid. If the signature has been validated to be valid, please jump to next section.
Open the Signature Panel, right click on the target signature in the signature list, and choose "Validate Signature" in the context menu:
If the signature is VALID as below screenshot, then we can move to next section to remove it:
Remove a valid signature
Before removing a signature, please ensure that the signature is validated to be valid.
For a valid signature, please follow the steps below to remove it:
- Clear the signature.
Open the Signature Panel, right click on the target signature in the signature list, and choose "Clear Signature" in the context menu:
Then the signature would be like:
- Remove the unsigned signature field.
After being cleared, the signature would be an unsigned signature field. Thus, we can just remove it as to remove an annotation or to remove a field.
For example, here we remove the unsigned signature field like to remove an annotation.
In the Ribbon menu, Select > Select Annotation:
Then the signature field would be selectable as below. Just select it and delete it.
Till now, the valid signature is removed.
