How to perform a downgrade

If you need to downgrade your Foxit Rendition Server to an older version and the option is not available in the installer, please follow the steps outlined below. It is crucial to back up your configuration files before proceeding to avoid losing any important data.

Step 1: Backing up Configuration Files

1. Before uninstalling the newer version, it is essential to back up the following configuration files, as they will not be available after the uninstallation process:

   Managing Node:

   • AssemblyLineTypes.base.xml
   • AssemblyLineTypes.user.xml
   • ConversionProperties.base.xml
   • ConversionProperties.user.xml
   • ManagingNodeConfig.base.xml
   • ManagingNodeConfig.user.xml

   Worker Node:

   • WorkerNodeConfig.base.xml
   • WorkerNodeConfig.user.xml

   Web App:

   • C:\inetpub\rs-apps\config\RenditionServiceProperties.base.config
   • C:\inetpub\rs-apps\config\RenditionServiceProperties.user.config

   Copy these files to a secure location to ensure they can be restored after the downgrade.

Step 2: Uninstalling the Newer Version

1. Uninstall the newer version of Foxit Rendition Server from your system using the standard uninstallation process for your operating system.
2. Ensure that the uninstallation process is complete before proceeding to the next step.

Step 3: Installing the Older Version

1. Download the older version of Foxit Rendition Server that you wish to install.
2. Follow the installation instructions provided for that specific version to complete the installation process.

Step 4: Restoring Configuration Files

1. After successfully installing the older version, navigate to the backup location where you saved the configuration files.

2. Copy the backed-up configuration files to their respective locations:

   Managing Node:

   • Replace the newly installed files with the backed-up files:
     • AssemblyLineTypes.base.xml
     • AssemblyLineTypes.user.xml
     • ConversionProperties.base.xml
     • ConversionProperties.user.xml
     • ManagingNodeConfig.base.xml
     • ManagingNodeConfig.user.xml

   Worker Node:

   • Replace the newly installed files with the backed-up files:
     • WorkerNodeConfig.base.xml
     • WorkerNodeConfig.user.xml

   Web App:

   • Replace the newly installed files with the backed-up files:
     • C:\inetpub\rs-apps\config\RenditionServiceProperties.base.config
     • C:\inetpub\rs-apps\config\RenditionServiceProperties.user.config

   Ensure that the configurations are properly replaced to retain your previous settings.

Step 5: Restarting Services

1. As a final step, restart the corresponding services to apply the configuration changes.
2. Verify that Foxit Rendition Server is functioning correctly with the downgraded version.
