How to deactivate perpetual license from previous installation and activate on new device?

To transfer your perpetual license from a previous machine to a new machine, you can do the following three steps:

• Step 1:Deactivate perpetual license from previous machine.

• Step 2:Download the purchased Foxit product from Foxit website and install on a new machine.

• Step 3:Activate the software with the same activation code on your new machine.

These three steps are described in detail in the following.

Step 1: Deactivate perpetual license from previous machine.

Before transferring your Foxit PDF Editor perpetual license to a new machine, you need to deactivate the licensed information from the previous machine. You could choose one of the optional solutions below to deactivate license:

Solution 1: Deactivate license on Foxit Website (For Foxit PDF Editor-Windows Version 12.0 and greater ; Foxit PDF Editor-macOS Version 12.0 and greater)

Solution 2：Deactivate license via deactivate button in Foxit PDF Editor (For Foxit PDF Editor-Windows Version 7.3 and greater; Foxit PDF Editor-macOS Version 3.0 and greater)

Solution 3: Deactivate license during uninstallation.(For Foxit PDF Editor-Windows Version 12.0 and greater; Foxit PDF Editor-macOS Version 12.1 and greater)

Solution 4：Contact Foxit Support team to request the deactivation.(For any versions of Foxit PDF Editor-Windows and Foxit PDF Editor-macOS)

Solution 1: Deactivate license on Foxit Website (For Foxit PDF Editor-Windows Version 12.0 and greater; Foxit PDF Editor-macOS Version 12.0 and greater).

Starting with Foxit PDF Editor-Windows Version 12.0 and Foxit PDF Editor-macOS Version 12.0 , you can deactivate the perpetual license from the previous installation under your Foxit account directly on the Foxit website by the steps below:

1.After logging in your Foxit account which is associated with your order’s billing email address on the Foxit website , go to Orders.

2.Please double click on the order number to appear the order details popup box.

3.Please click on View Activation as you will see list of activated PCs. click on the Activated button of the PC you wish to remove.

4.Then click on OK on popup confirmation dialogue box to accept change.

Note:

• For solution 1, this is applicable for Foxit PDF Editor-Windows Version 12.0 and greater, and Foxit PDF Editor-macOS Version 12.0 and greater. For Foxit PDF Editor -Windows versions prior to V12.0 and Foxit PDF Editor -macOS versions prior to V12.0, please access the Foxit Software Upgrade portal to take your license to next level or refer to the other solutions mentioned in this article to deactivate the license.
• For solution 1, this does not work for Foxit PDF Editor educational license or the license you purchased from Foxit reseller/distributor. If you have such a license, please refer to the other solutions mentioned in this article to deactivate the license.

Solution 2：Deactivate license via deactivate button in Foxit PDF Editor (For Foxit PDF Editor-Windows Version 7.3 and greater; Foxit PDF Editor-macOS Version 3.0 and greater).

Since version 7.3, you could deactivate perpetual license from the previous installation within Foxit application by yourself by following steps below:

1.Open the activated Foxit application on previous computer.

2.Go to Help menu, click on Deactivate button.

3.Click on OK to accept the change. 

Solution 3: Deactivate license during uninstallation (For Foxit PDF Editor-Windows Version 12.0 and greater;Foxit PDF Editor-macOS Version 12.1 and greater).

Starting from Foxit PDF Editor-Windows version 12.0 and Foxit PDF Editor-macOS version 12.1, you can deactivate the license when uninstalling the Foxit application from previous computer. Please do the following:

For Foxit PDF Editor-Windows version 12.0 and greater, please access the machine where you want to deactivate the Foxit license information. Go to Control Panel>Programs and Features ,double click on the Foxit PDF Editor application from the applications list shown there. The prompt window shown in the screenshot below will pop up:

Please choose “Remove” and check the option “Deactivate perpetual license after uninstalling” in the popup, click on “OK” and follow the on-screen steps to finish the uninstallation process.

For Foxit PDF Editor-macOS Version 12.1 and greater, please access the machine where you want to deactivate the Foxit license information. Choose one of the following options to uninstall Foxit PDF Editor-MacOS:

• Open the Finder window > click on Applications in the sidebar > then right-click the Foxit PDF Editor icon > select Move to Trash;
• Drag and drop the Foxit PDF Editor icon to the trash can icon located in the dock;
• Open the Launchpad, and then drag and drop the Foxit PDF Editor icon into the trash can from that window.

A few seconds after the uninstallation is complete, a new window will pop up as shown in the screenshot below in which you could further click on "OK" button to deactivate the license from the existing machine.

Note:

For Solution 3, this is applicable for Foxit PDF Editor -Windows Version 12.0  and greater, and Foxit  PDF Editor-macOS Version 12.1 and greater. 

Solution 4：Contact Foxit Support team to request the deactivation(For any versions of Foxit PDF Editor-Windows and Foxit PDF Editor-macOS).

If you are having difficulty with deactivating the license on your end, submit a ticket request to Foxit Support team for assistance. 

Please contain the following information in your ticket:

• The PC name of the machine which is needed for deactivation.
• The registration key code.

With this information, our Foxit support team will help you to deactivate the license from your corresponding previous machine.

Step 2:Download the purchased Foxit product from Foxit website and install on a new machine.

Click here to sign in with your Foxit account which is associated with your order’s billing email address. Go to My Orders then click on the order number to open Order Details.

Click on the blue arrow icon in the order details window to download the latest version for your license, and then install it on a new machine. To learn more methods about how to download the matched version installer that corresponds to your license, refer to this article.

Step 3:Activate the software with the same activation code on your new machine.

To activate the Foxit product with the same registration code, please do the following（For example: Version 12 of Foxit PDF Editor)

1. Upon opening your purchased version of Foxit PDF Editor, you’ll see the Foxit PDF Editor activation window, click Activate to open the activation dialog box.

If you are able to launch Foxit PDF Editor directly without getting the activation window, please click Help menu > Activate, then the activation procedures will start.

You can also open the activation window manually by running Activation.exe from the Windows Start menu> All Programs > Foxit PDF Editor > Activation.

Or you may also open the Activation Window via running the program "Activation.exe" located in the Foxit PDF Editor installation directory, usually under "C:\Program Files (x86)\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor”.

2.Copy and paste your registration key to the box under Perpetual License in the pop-up Foxit PDF Editor Activation window, and click Activate.

3.To check if you have activated Foxit PDF Editor successfully, please select Help tab in Foxit PDF Editor > About Foxit PDF Editor > License Information and see if your name will appear as the licensee in the window.
